DFW Softball Playoff Recap (4/23): Hebron, Timber Creek win Game 1; Reedy, Centennial advance and more from the metroplex

THURSDAY’S SCORES

Hebron 4, Allen 1
Kate Buesing allowed 3 hits and the Hawks scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 6th in Game 1. Abby Chunn tied the game with an RBI sac fly and Alyssa Summers drove in Emma Kate Hagedorn for the go-ahead run. Allen’s Yaya Morgan allowed 5 hits while Ady Fincanon hit a home run in the top of the 4th. The Eagles’ 18-game winning streak was snapped.

Timber Creek 4, Lake Ridge 0
Addi Inocencio threw a 3-hit shutout and struck out 11 Eagles in Game 1. Addy McFarland, Brooklyn Wardell and Inocencio each produced 2 hits while Wardell, Teagan Peterson and Isabel Miller each had 1 RBI.

South Grand Prairie 15, Nimitz 0
Jernie Nerio and Star Brewer combined for a no-hitter as the Warriors took down the Vikings in 3 innings during Game 1. SGP had 11 hits – 4 for extra bases – while batters 4 through 9 recorded all 8 RBIs.

Royse City 9, Wylie 5
Bri Duffey doubled, tripled and drove in a run as the Bulldogs took down the Pirates in Game 1. Aubrey Mitchell and Sydni Palmer had 2 RBIs apiece while Hannah Richmond didn’t allow a run in 1 1/3 innings in relief. Wylie’s Ava Cook had a double, triple and 2 RBIs, and Amira Forbit hit a home run in the bottom of the 3rd.

Rockwall-Heath 10, Sachse 0
Makenna Burleson registered a 2-hit shutout and struck out 6 during Heath’s win in 6 innings of Game 2. The Hawks clinched the bi-district title in 2 games and advance to the 6A D1 area round. Anna-Kate Synesael had a big night at the plate with an inside the park home run in the 1st inning and then got the walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the 6th.

Keller 9, Boswell 3
Avery Lawton led the Indians with a grand slam and 5 RBIs as the Indians eliminated the Pioneers in Game 2 – advancing to the 6A D2 area round. Mackenna Jackson added a solo home run to extend Keller’s lead to 6-2 in the 4th. Taylor O’Leary went the distance for the Indians and allowed 3 hits with 5 strikeouts. Addy Watson hit a 2-run home run in the top of the 1st inning for Boswell.

Guyer 12, Rock Hill 0
Finley Montgomery extended her scoreless streak to 23 innings and picked up her 4th consecutive shutout win during the Wildcats’ Game 1 win in 6 innings over the Blue Hawks. Montgomery allowed 1 hit and struck out 11 batters while Guyer got home runs from Cali Parham and Madison Joyner.

Prosper 5, Marcus 4
After giving up 4 runs in the top of the 6th inning, the Eagles tacked on 3 in the bottom of the 6th to take down the Marauders in Game 1. RBIs from Madisynn Dunn, Makenna Barr and Brianna Barr gave Marcus a 4-2 lead in the 6th. But Prosper tied it on a 2-run triple from Analia Dishong and then Emma Johnson reached on a error with Kaylee Mears scoring the go-ahead run. Khyla Glover hit a 2-run home run for Prosper in the 4th.

Forney 11, Rowlett 0
Avery Pitts was masterful in her Game 1 start for the Jackrabbits with 20 strikeouts against 23 batters faced while her offense came through with home runs from Carlee Rabal and Kylee Orona. Rabal also hit 2 doubles. Pitts struck out all 9 Eagles multiple times and lost her no-hitter with 2 outs in the 6th.

Aledo 2, Birdville 1
Delaney Rosser had an RBI triple in the 3rd and scored on a single from Tempe Perry, and Perry won a pitcher’s duel with Reagan Jordan during the Ladycats’ Game 1 win over the Hawks. Perry allowed 4 hits and struck out 5 while Jordan allowed 4 hits and struck out 7.

Richland 8, Fossil Ridge 1
Stacy Jennings struck out 17 batters and gave up an unearned run on 3 hits as the Royals beat the Panthers in Game 1. Kennedy Parry got 2 hits and 2 RBIs while Sam Aguilar finished with 2 walks, 3 runs scored and 4 stolen bases.

Burleson Centennial 17, Arlington Heights 0
Brooke Mayner and Addison McCroskey combined for a no-hitter in 4 innings during Game 2 to send the Spartans to the 5A D1 area round. Mayner homered twice and struck out 6 batters while McCroskey added 4 strikeouts. Centennial had 8 extra base hits. Mayner and Kalie Randall each had 4 RBIs while Gabby Saavedra went 4 for 4 and was a home run shy of the cycle.

Melissa 16, Texarkana Texas 0
Lulu Adrian homered twice and drove in 5 to lead the Cardinals in Game 1. Eloisa Maes pitched all 5 innings and allowed 2 hits with 5 strikeouts. All 9 batters for Melissa got a hit while 5 players combined for 14 RBIs.

Reedy 2, Frisco 0
Malaina Boyst tossed a 4-hit shutout and struck out 11 to lead the Lions past the Raccoons in a single game showdown – advancing to the 5A D1 area round. The offense was led by Abby Jackson, who hit a home run in the 4th inning. Frisco’s Leija Folauo’o allowed 3 hits and struck out 7.

Wakeland 20, Frisco Centennial 3
The Wolves scored multiple runs in all 5 innings including 8 in the 5th to beat the Titans in Game 1. Lauren McIllwain homered, doubled and drove in 6. Kayla Courcy went 4 for 5 and Valerie Selig drove in 3. Jordan McNees allowed 2 hits and struck out 10. Centennial got a home run from Khloe Mott.

Burleson 16, South Hills 1
Addy Sellers went 3 for 4 with 4 RBIs and was a triple shy of the cycle during the Elks’ Game 1 win over the Scorpions. Sellers hit a 2-run home run in the 3rd to break a scoreless tie while the Elks added 7 runs in the top of the 7th. Kealy Custead and Lola Andrews had 3 hits each and Savannah Skaggs had 4 hits and 4 RBIs. Skaggs also got the complete game and struck out 11 batters.

Joshua 14, North Side 0
Isabella Lambert got the no-hitter in 5 innings and struck out 10 to send the Owls past the Steers in a single game playoff – advancing to the 5A D2 area round. Taylor Proffitt homered for Joshua and Kinlee Alexander hit 3 doubles.

Lovejoy 3, Whitehouse 0
Izzy Guarriello and Gisela Boitmann combined for 2 hits allowed and 15 strikeouts in 7 innings to lead the Leopards in Game 1. Torri Johannes highlighted the offense with a home run in the 7th inning.

Lone Star 16, Liberty 10
The Rangers got 3 home runs from Brooke Wooten, Gillian Lassley and Makala Wallace to lead them in an offensive shootout against the Redhawks in Game 1. Lassley led the team with 4 RBIs and the Lone Star trio all had 3 hits. Addison Hanson led Liberty with 4 RBIs and a 3-run home run.

Mineral Wells 23, Frenship Memorial 8
Kimber Prentice finished with 5 hits, 3 doubles and 6 runs batted in as the Rams won a single game playoff to advance to the 4A D1 area round. Jadyn Horton also went 5 for 5 while Carsyn Presley, Kynlee Harkins and Bailey Hons each had 2 RBIs. The Rams scored 6 runs in the 1st inning, 6 in the 2nd and 7 in the 4th.

Decatur 15, Western Hills 0
Alivia Creasser finished off the Cougars with a no-hitter in 4 innings and struck out 7 as the Eagles won a single game playoff to advance to the 4A D1 area round. Creasser also went 4 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBIs. Brooklyn Mangus drove in 3 and Colbie McCarthy added 3 hits, 2 doubles and 5 runs batted in.

Panther Creek 4, Van Alstyne 3
Reagan Hill homered and then shut down Van Alstyne in relief as Panther Creek won Game 1. Hill got the final 5 outs and didn’t allow a hit with 1 walk and 1 strikeout. Van Alstyne’s Kammy Bloom went the distance and picked up 11 strikeouts, and hit a home run.

Whitesboro 16, Madison 0
Avery Howerton struck out 8 of 9 batters faced for the no-hitter as the Bearcats won a single game playoff and advance to the 3A D1 area round. Reagan Downs had a team-high 3 RBIs.

Boyd 20, Village Tech 0
The Yellowjackets scored 16 times in the 1st inning to knock off Village Tech in a single game playoff and advance to the 3A D2 area round. Kinley Middleton led the offense with 4 RBIs and Abby Atkinson, Savannah Davis and Taylor Budge combined for a 3-inning no-hitter with 3 strikeouts.

S&S 13, Chisum 0
Hayden Mowrey threw a 1-hit shutout in 5 innings and struck out 7 to lead the Rams to a single game playoff win and advance to the 3A D2 area round. Lana Walters and Hayden Kight each drove in 4 runs while Kight and Brynlee Mullican each had 3 hits.

Grandview 10, Whitney 0
Madi Doty threw a no-hitter in 6 innings and struck out 17 of 20 batters faced during the Zebras’ Game 1 win. SJ Mann hit a home run, went 4 for 4 and drove in 2 runs. KJ Hubbard went 3 for 3 with 2 RBIs while Taryn Jackson had a 2-run triple.
