After two seasons with the Texas Longhorns, Prosper grad Ayden Ames is transferring to Creighton.
“These past two years at UT have been nothing short of amazing,” Ames said in an Instagram post. “This decision was one of the hardest decisions that I have ever had to make, but I cannot wait to see what the future holds. I will forever hold a piece of Texas in my heart.”
Ames played in 56 matches and 194 sets in two seasons for UT. After 150 kills as a freshman, Ames had 149 kills this season on a career-high 0.368 hitting percentage. She included a career high 109 total blocks and 1.11 blocks per set.
In her UT career, Ames had 299 kills on a 0.363 clip and 197 total blocks.
This season, the Horns went 26-4 and 13-2 in the SEC. The team lost in the SEC final over Kentucky and ended the year with a 3-1 defeat vs Wisconsin in the regional final on Dec. 14.
Creighton went 28-6 and 16-0 in conference – losing to Kentucky in the Elite Eight.
While at Prosper, Ames was Gatorade Texas and National Player Of The Year as a senior – leading the Eagles to the state semifinals.
Ames was GM Sports Media Most Valuable Player Of The Year in 2023 after the Eagles won 37 games. She had 1,600 career kills and over 300 total blocks in her Prosper career.
