Alexander Adams had one of the greatest runs in the history of high school sports – producing a 110-3-4 record in four years with the Celina girls soccer program.

But Adams wanted to be closer to home – taking over the job at Keller Timber Creek last May. In his first season with the Falcons, he has them in the playoffs.

Timber Creek (12-6-5 overall, 8-5-3 in 4-6A) will play Mansfield Lake Ridge in the 6A D1 bi-district round at 8 pm Friday from Keller ISD Stadium.

“I’m really proud of the girls living up to the potential I saw during summer workouts,” Adams said. “They were destined to be here and just needed to execute their capabilities on the field. They did it and the coaches couldn’t be prouder of these girls.”

During his time with Celina, the Bobcats became the first UIL soccer team (boys or girls) to win four consecutive state championships. They beat Davenport 2-1 in last year’s 4A D1 title game to complete the four-peat.

Celina finished with a 29-0 record during the 2023 season – the third team to go undefeated in UIL girls soccer history.

“The relationships I built with the kids and community is what I miss the most. I am still friends with a few parents and still watch the teams progress from afar.” Adams said. “I’m really proud that they have had continued success this year. The Celina community really embraced our team and I miss seeing people out in public. They’d recognize me as the girls coach, even when I didn’t have a daughter in the team.”

Timber Creek defeated Eaton and Justin Northwest in the final two regular season games to clinch a playoff berth. The Falcons took Keller to a 1-0 loss and beat Byron Nelson 2-0.

They went scoreless with Flower Mound Marcus and also took Lovejoy to the brink in a 1-0 defeat. Lovejoy owns a 23-0 record.

“Both Timber Creek and Celina have their strengths and weaknesses, but as far as overall talent I would say Timber Creek is a little deeper in talent, but that’s a natural difference being they’re very different in size,” Adams said. “For its school size, there’s no comparison that Celina is the most talented 4A school in the state.”

Adams went on to praise Keller ISD, “Our indoor facility at Timber Creek is top notch and our athletic administration is very supportive of all the different sports and coaches here in Keller ISD.”

After a one-year hiatus, the Falcons are back in postseason play. They reached the third round during the 2024 season.
