For the fourth time in the past five years, the Allen Eagles will play for a spot in the state semifinals after a route over Odessa Permian 56-13 on Friday.
Allen (13-0) also went to the fourth round in 2021, 2023 and 2024.
Last year, the Eagles’ season ended 30-8 against 6A D1 champion North Crowley. They will play the winner between North Crowley and Coppell next week. Those two play Saturday in Midlothian.
Against Permian on Friday, Allen scored four touchdowns in the second quarter. The Eagles produced over 500 yards offense with QB Jeremiah Daoud throwing for 205 yards and one touchdown. Ty Snell added 75 yards passing and a pair of touchdowns.
Lyndon Spriggs (14 rushes, 134 yards, 3 TD) and Jaden Hambric (14 rushes, 62 yards, 2 TD) led the rushing attack. Carter Harris caught five passes for 97 yards while Josyah Johnson had 80 yards and two touchdowns. Damon Lofton caught the third Allen TD.
The last time Allen made the state semifinals, it was 2018.
They last won a state title in 2017 – going a perfect 16-0.
