WEEK 6 NOTES
Aledo erased a 14-2 deficit to beat Denton Ryan in the De facto District 3-5A D1 championship game, 15-14. With the win, the Bearcats kept their national record district winning streak intact – 131 straight victories, a streak that started in 2007.
Hebron scored the final 35 points including 29 in the fourth quarter to storm back and stun the home crowd at FM Marcus. The Hawks won 49-42.
South Oak Cliff picked up its third straight district shutout and extended its district shutout streak to five games. The Golden Bears have allowed just seven points in district play over the past two seasons. They have won 44 straight district games.
FW Western Hills defeated FW Diamond Hill-Jarvis 76-6. Since MaxPreps began tracking scores in 2004 – the Cougars have scored 70 or more points just three times, 70 in 2003 and 72 in 2006.
North Crowley opened District 3-6A with a 68-0 win over Mansfield Legacy. The Panthers have won 22 straight games in district play.
Highland Park beat Red Oak 52-35 – improving to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in District 7-5A D1. Over the past three games, the Scots have scored 180 points – averaging 60 per contest.
FW Arlington Heights opens the season 6-0 with five of those wins via a shutout. The Yellowjackets have allowed just 14 points in six games. In all five shutout wins, they have scored at least 56 points.
Gainesville put up 55 points in its win over Bonham – the last time the Leopards scored 55+ in a game came Sept. 13, 2019 against Castleberry.
Pilot Point upset state ranked Palmer – improving to 5-1 on the season and 2-0 in district. The team won four games last season and went 0-10 in 2023. The Bearcats open district 2-0 for the first time since 2021.
Tom Bean is 6-0 for the first time since 2008 when the Tomcats went 8-3. They went 6-4 in each of the past two seasons. One more win will give them 7+ wins for the first time in 17 years.
Four teams through Class 6A-4A scored 70+ points (Prosper Walnut Grove, North Forney, Prosper, FW Western Hills). DFW only had one team with 70 points in Week 5 (Highland Park).
Mineral Wells Community Christian is 6-0 with four of those wins scoring 70+ points. The Warriors play in TAIAO 6-man (Texas Association of Independent Athletic).
