Longtime Celina coach Bill Elliott retired, the school district announced on Wednesday. Elliott had been on leave since October after an investigation went underway surrounding his son Caleb Elliott, who was accused of recording boys in a middle school locker room.

Elliott spent over 30 years with Celina – leading the Bobcats to the Class 4A D1 state championship in 2024. The team defeated Kilgore 55-21 and finished with a perfect 16-0 record. He arrived to Celina in the early 1990s and had been head coach of the Bobcats over the past 10 years.

He led Celina to a runner-up finish against West Orange Stark in the 2015 Class 4A D2 final. Elliott was also on staff during nine other championship runs with titles in 1995, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2005 and 2007.

Celina went 14-1 this past season with a trip to the state semifinals – losing to state champ Stephenville on a last second field goal. Elliott wasn’t on the sideline coaching – since being on leave in October.

Elliott won over 140 games as Celina head coach in 12 years.

Caleb Elliott had been charged with eight counts of child pornography. According to reports on Tuesday, the third-party investigation found no wrongdoing by Celina ISD in connection with Caleb Elliott’s case.
