LD Bell girls knock off rival Euless Trinity to extend winning streak to 16 games

HURST – Hannah Due and Chanelle Davis scored 13 points apiece as the Bell Blue Raiders took down their longtime rivals the Trinity Trojans 52-32 in a District 3-6A game on Friday night. Bell improves to 27-1 overall and 9-0 in district while Trinity drops to 14-12 and 4-5.

Bell is ranked #11 in the Class 6A state rankings and extends its win streak to 16 games.

Its only loss came on Nov. 30 against Keller.

Both teams struggled to score in the first quarter. It was scoreless four minutes into the game.

The Trojans struck first with a bucket by Mya Whorton, but Bell quickly got into the bonus with 3:21 on the clock. Katie Tietjen nailed a three to give Bell a 6-2 lead. Gracie Oma kept a Bell possession alive and Due drained another three to extend the margin to 9-4, which was the score after the opening period.

Lily Sheppard, who led all scorers with 14 points, hit a three early in the second to pull Trinity within 9-7.

But Bell responded with 12 straight points.

Davis and Due hit jumpers and Davis’ three-point play gave the Raiders a 19-7 lead. Oma hit a layup and was fouled, but after missed free throw, the lead was 21-7. Oma got an offensive rebound and found Enycee Williams for a jumper and Bell led Trinity 23-9 at the intermission.

Davis hit a pair of mid-range jumpers in the third quarter as the lead grew to 33-14.

Oma had another offensive put back and Bell was up 37-20 after three quarters.

Due hit a three in the fourth quarter and Bell’s biggest lead was 23 before a last second trey from Trinity.
