It was fairy book ending for TCU quarterback and former Weatherford Kangaroo Ken Seals. He was thrown into the starting role after Josh Hoover went into the transfer portal.
Making his first career start with TCU, Seals connected with Jeremy Payne for the game-winning touchdown in overtime as the Horned Frogs rallied to upset #16 Southern Cal 30-27 at the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio.
The Frogs (9-4) trailed 24-14 in the fourth quarter before tying the game.
Southlake Carroll’s Kyle Lemmermann tied the game with a field goal as time expired. The TCU defense stood strong and held the Trojans out of the end zone to begin the OT period.
Trailing, 27-24, Seals completed a pass that was later reviewed and overturned. Then USC got to Seals for a sack and 10-yard loss. Facing third-and-20, Seals checked it down to Payne, who did the rest, breaking multiple tackles and miraculously staying in bounds for the game winner.
Seals went 29 of 40 for 258 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Payne added 13 carries for 73 yards and one score while former Azle Hornet Eric McAlister made six catches for 69 yards.
Seals was named Offensive game MVP.
What a way to go out!
