Paige Flickinger, one of the all time greatest players in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, announced on Thursday that she will be headed to Loyola Marymount University in California for her final indoor volleyball season in 2024.
Flickinger, still at LSU, is starting her final beach season with the Tigers this semester.
A four-year starter at Byron Nelson High School and 2020 graduate, Flickinger made an immediate impact for the Bobcats while being voted district newcomer of the year as a freshman. She capped off an incredible career by helping Byron to the Class 6A state championship in 2019 – a five set thriller over Plano West. That season she was ranked #66 in the country by Prep Volleyball and won Gatorade Texas Player Of The Year honors. She was also a two-time All-American selection for her career and named TGCA 5A-6A Player Of The Year in 2019.
During her time with the indoor team at LSU, Flickinger earned a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team in 2020.
She finished second on the team in points scored, kills, aces and digs. Flickinger was limited as a sophomore due to a knee injury, but still managed to play the final 14 matches of the season. During the last two years, Flickinger appeared in 49 matches and started in 44 games. As a junior she totaled 252 kills primarily as an outside hitter.
As a senior in 2023, she played as a defensive specialist and recorded 151 digs and 79 sets.
