Centennial 2, Arlington Heights 0
After a scoreless first half, the Spartans scored two goals and their defense locked down the Yellowjackets during their Class 5A D1 bi-district round game on Thursday night at Scarborough-Handley Field in Fort Worth.

The Spartans (16-1-4) will play Birdville or Keller Fossil Ridge in the area round.

Heights ends 14-7-1.

Both defenses did a good job, holding the game scoreless through 60 minutes. Centennial finally broke the drought in the 62nd minute when Andie Hafner found Mardie Frye for the goal and 1-0 lead.

Centennial added its second goal with 17 seconds to play – Hannah Furney feeding Valentina Almansa. Along with the Spartans’ back line, goalkeepers Elissa Ferguson and Addison White posted the shutout. Heights had trouble on offense as the Jackets didn’t get off a single shot on goal.

Heritage 2, Aledo 1
The Panthers rallied back from a 1-0 deficit to beat Aledo, the District 5-5A champ, in their Class 5A D1 bi-district game on Thursday night at Eagle Mountain HS in Fort Worth.

Heritage (14-3-2) will play Cleburne or FW Paschal in the area round.

Aledo ends 13-8-1.

After the Ladycats took a 1-nil lead, the Panthers tied the game when Addison Atkins passed a through ball for a goal by Emma Koester and it was 1-1 at the intermission. Heritage took the 2-1 lead in the second half when Atkins got the score off the Emersen Andries assist, and the Panthers’ defense held on late to advance.
