McKenna Morton (Eastern Illinois) had a game-high 20 kills to lead Carrollton Prince Of Peace to the TAPPS 4A state championship over Schertz John Paul II 25-22, 25-12, 25-21 on Saturday in Waco.
The Eagles wrap up their title season with a 29-11 record.
JPII ends 39-7.
Morton hit 0.348 while Cici Ndoma-ogar and Krystal Koehler added 11 and nine kills, respectively. Ndoma-ogar and Izzy Duceska each had four aces for the Eagles.
Maebry Harris led four players with double-digits in digs with 21 (Morton 13, Claire Pritchett 13, Koehler 10). Duceska posted a game-high 34 assists.
Prince Of Peace reached the state semis for the 15th time in program history and captured its fourth championship – first since 2019. The Eagles also won in 2011 and 2013.
In the playoffs, the Eagles beat TC-Willow Park, McKinney Christian and district mate Plano Coram Deo 3-0 in the semifinals. They have won back-to-back district titles and post a 137-47-3 record since 2021.
