Caitlin Kobiske, who graduated from Keller Central High School in 2021, nearly led the Southeastern Oklahoma State women’s basketball team to a conference championship and automatic bid to the NCAA D2 tournament.
The Savage Storm won their first two Great American Conference tournament games against Southwestern Oklahoma State and Southern Nazarene before losing to Harding 69-52 on March 9.
SEOSU came into the tourney with the 4-seed while its win during the semifinal round came against top seeded SNU. In her final game, Kobiske scored a game-high 25 points vs Harding – knocking down three 3-pointers and putting in four rebounds and two assists.
Kobiske was selected to the GAC all-tournament team after averaging 19 points in three games. She shot 44.4% from the field and made seven 3-pointers.
The Storm finished the year 20-11 overall and 15-7 in conference play during the regular season. It was their most wins in both categories since the 2019-20 season when they went 22-7 and 16-6.
Kobiske was picked for first-team all-GAC, adding to her second-team honors as a junior and sophomore. She was second in the conference with a career-best 17.9 points per game. Kobiske also led the league with a career-high 42.7% from behind the arc – 8th in overall shooting percentage (46.7), 4th in free throw shooting (83.9) and 11th in rebounds (5.6).
Kobiske also earned All-Central Region honors, announced on Friday.
In her four years in Durant, the 5-10 forward started in 111 games and appeared in 116. This season, Kobiske set career marks in games (31), starts (31), minutes (950), field goals made (190), 3-pointers made 941), 3-point percentage (42.7), defensive rebounds (136), total rebounds (173), steals (33), points (556) and points per game (17.9).
Kobiske ends her SEOSU career as the 4th leading scorer all-time with 1,572 points and the 9th most rebounds (603). She is just one of three players in program history with 1,500 points and 600 rebounds. Additionally, she excelled in the classroom with an all-academic selection in the GAC all four seasons.
During her time at Central HS, Kobiske was a multiple all-district selection, scored over 1,000 points and as a senior, was a McDonald’s All-American nominee.
