After four years with Southlake Carroll, Chris Smith was named head football coach at Birdville HS on Thursday night according to Matt Stepp from DCTF.
Smith helped lead the Dragons as their offensive coordinator. Carroll reached the state championship game during the 2020 season.
The Dragons went 13-2 last season ending 45-38 to Desoto in the Class 6A D2 semifinals. Overall in four seasons, Carroll went 52-6.
Smith replaces Lon Holbrook at Birdville. Holbrook was with the program for nine years. He was promoted within the Birdville ISD athletic department.
According to Stepp, Smith also coached in college with Texas A&M and was a part of five championship teams at Carthage HS.
