Waxahachie sophomore ties record
Indians’ star 2028 shortstop Michaela Landers hit a home run and drove in 5 runs during a 17-0 win over Temple in Game 1. It was her 24th home run of the season – tying the DFW single season record that was set in 2025 by Melissa’s Kennedy Bradley.

She added 2 RBIs during Waxahachie’s 11-2 win in Game 2, going over 100 runs batted in on the season, which extends her state record. Landers had 3 triples in Game 2.

Bradley sets Melissa record
Bradley, the senior third baseman for the Cardinals and a Florida signee, went 4 for 4 with a home run, one double and 4 RBIs in a 15-2 win over Texarkana Texas in Game 2.

It was Bradley’s 62nd career home run while in a Melissa jersey. She broke the previous record set last season by 2025 senior Caigan Crabtree, who is now a freshman at the University of Texas.

Bradley, who set the DFW record with 24 home runs last season, has 18 homers along with 48 hits and 58 RBIs this spring for the Cardinals, who are 29-2 and looking for a third consecutive state title.

Buesing near perfect in elimination game
Hebron senior pitcher Kate Buesing was brilliant during the Hawks’ biggest game of the season. The Southern Nazarene signee almost picked up a perfect in a 3-0 win over Allen in their Game 3 clincher.

Buesing shut down the first 19 Eagles and had a perfect game going through 1 out in the 7th inning. Allen freshman broke up the perfect game and no-hitter with a double to center field. Buesing closed out her pitching gem with a grounder to third and fly out to right.

Liz Cardona led the offense with a home run and 3 RBIs.

Byron Nelson, Richland avoid upsets
Byron Nelson, which came into the playoffs with a program record 30 wins plus the District 4-6A championship, was put to the test against 3-6A’s 4th place team, the Weatherford Kangaroos.

Falling 3-2 in Game 1 to go down 1-0 in the series, the Bobcats came back to win 2 games on Saturday – all by the same score, 3-2, to advance.

Sophomore Meredith Hambric came in to pitch with 2 outs in the second inning and allowed 1 hit in 5 1/3 innings. Hambric struck out 7 and her offense put up 3 runs in the top of the 5th.

In Game 3, Byron went down 2-0 again, only to duplicate its Game 2 win with 3 runs in one inning. McKenna Cleary and Gabby Cuellar had RBI base hits in the top of the 4th. Hambric got the start and allowed 2 unearned runs on 3 hits with 9 strikeouts in 7 innings.

Meanwhile, Richland lost on a walk-off in Game 2 against Keller Fossil Ridge. But the Royals held strong with a 2-1 win on Saturday. Junior pitcher and Angelo State commit Stacy Jennings allowed 6 hits and struck out 4 in 7 innings. Jennings threw a Game 1 gem with 17 strikeouts in Richland’s 8-1 victory.

Forney duo nearly unhittable
Forney starting pitchers Avery Pitts and Emmie Santos put on a show during their sweep over Rowlett, 11-0 and 10-0.

In Game 1, Pitts allowed 1 hit in 7 innings while striking out 20 of 23 batters.

Santos, committed to Eastern Kentucky, allowed 3 hits with 5 strikeouts as the Jackrabbits won in 5 innings.

#1 Madi Doty no-hits Whitney, twice
Madi Doty, the #1 player in DFW and Grandview senior pitcher, tossed back-to-back no-hitters in the Zebras’ sweep over Whitney.

The Texas Longhorns signee threw 11 innings in 2 games and struck out 26 batters. Doty had 17 in Grandview’s 10-0 win in Game 1.

Grandview won Game 2, 11-0.

SJ Mann had 2 home runs in the series while Doty had 1 in Game 2.

Smash Sisters come through for Brewer

Brewer sophomores Avery Welch and Cozy Tyson both hit home runs during the Bears’ 12-2 win in Game 2 over Colleyville Heritage.

The Bears won 7-4 in Game 1 to complete the sweep over the Panthers.

Welch started the scoring in Game 2 with a solo home run in the bottom of the 1st inning. Brewer added 5 in the 2nd and 4 in the 5th – highlighted by a solo homer from Tyson.

Sophomore pitcher Sylver Orebaugh earned the complete-game victory. Senior Lilly Meller hit the go-ahead 2-run single in Brewer’s Game 1 win.

Aledo sends message in Game 3

Aledo hit 3 home runs and sophomore pitcher Tempe Perry shut down Birdville during a 10-0 win in Game 3 to advance. Perry, who also won Game 1, 2-1, pitched all 6 innings on Saturday with a 4-hit shutout while striking out 6 Hawks.

Breleigh Mayer, Delaney Rosser and Perry hit home runs for the Ladycats.

Aledo put the game to bed with 8 runs in the bottom of the 6th. Maddy Martinak reached on an error and Kyleigh Pawlak scored to walk-off Birdville.
