NATIONAL RANKINGS: Duncanville, Southlake Carroll move up in football rankings

After picking up wins in Week 2, the Duncanville and Southlake Carroll football teams have moved up in the national rankings from MaxPreps.

Duncanville defeated South Oak Cliff 35-28 in its season opener and moved up one in the rankings from #8 to #7. The Panthers are the highest ranked team from Texas – coming behind Mater Dei, St. John Bosco, Bishop Gorman, St. Frances Academy, Grayson and IMG Academy.

QB Maximus The Great Denson accounted for nearly 250 yards and three passing touchdowns while Brayden Arnold made 15 catches for 105 yards and two touchdowns.

The Panthers, who were off in Week 1, will have another off week before starting up District 11-6A action vs Waxahachie on Sept. 19.

Carroll comes in as the second best ranked Texas team by MaxPreps at #17, also moving up from #18 in Week 1. In a rain shortened game, the Dragons dominated Hebron at home 35-7 to improve to 2-0. They opened the year 49-0 vs Midland on Aug. 29.

Against Hebron, QB Angelo Renda went 17 of 21 for 349 yards and two touchdowns. RB Brooks Biggers scored two rushing touchdowns and Blake Gunter (3-134-1) and Brock Boyd (5-70-1) were Renda’s top targets.

The Dragons will play Byron Nelson in Week 3.

North Crowley stayed at #20 after the Panthers took down DeSoto.
