Paradise scores upset vs Boyd
Paradise scored four runs in the top of the first inning during the Panthers’ 7-1 upset over Boyd on Tuesday night.
Boyd entered the night #1 in all of Class 3A and undefeated at 19-0.
Kaden Hammonds was masterful with four runs allowed while holding the Yellowjackets (19-1, 4-1 in 10-3A) scoreless through six innings.
Eighth batters came to the plate for Paradise (14-3, 3-0) in the opening frame. Carter Mara hit a lead-off double and moved to second on a bunt single by Cash Watson. Both runners moved into scoring position with two outs and Madden Taylor and Gage Brogan drew back-to-back walks to score a run.
Ayden Olalde and Cash Lander capped the hot start with back-to-back RBI singles.
Hammonds didn’t give up a hit until the bottom of the third. Boyd only had one runner in scoring position while Elijah Webber ended the drought with a home run with one out in the bottom of the seventh.
Southlake Carroll rallies for walk-off win
Down 6-0 after four innings, Southlake Carroll scored seven runs in the final three frames to beat Keller Timber Creek 7-6 in District 4-6A on Tuesday night.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Dragons put two on base with one out when Dane Thornton hit a hard infield single to third to drive in a run and cut the Timber Creek lead to 6-5.
Two batters later and the bases loaded, Teagan Heck hit the walk-off two-run double to left to push Carroll to its first district win this season (5-15-1, 1-5).
Carroll scored on three ground outs in the fifth and sixth innings combined, and got an RBI single from Shawn Arterburn.
Timber Creek (15-7, 4-2) scored five runs in the second inning highlighted by a two-run double from Zach Wanoreck.
Arlington Grace Prep edges Fort Worth Christian
Blair Walker allowed two unearned runs on three hits in 5 2/3 innings and the Lions hung on to upset the Cardinals in a TAPPS non-district game on Tuesday night.
Heath Speck recorded the save for GP (12-4-1) with two hits allowed in 1 1/3 innings.
FWC (18-5-1) was led by top MLB prospect and Texas signee Grady Emerson, who went 3 for 4 with a double and three runs batted in.
The Lions turned a 1-0 deficit into a 3-1 lead in the top of the third inning. After the first two reached safely, Walker drove both runners in with a triple to right field. Walker scored on Graves’ RBI ground out.
Emerson tied it at 3-3 in the fourth on a two-run double. Buchanan drove in the go-ahead run for GP in the fifth with an RBI double to left.
FWC had two runners on in the fifth and sixth, but failed to score.
Speck retired the order in the bottom of the seventh.
Brewer scores late to beat Fossil Ridge
Ethan Maddy recorded the one-out RBI single in the top of the seventh as Brewer beat out Keller Fossil Ridge 5-4 on Tuesday night in District 5-5A.
Khyler Farris and Evan Montalvo led off the Brewer (10-7, 3-2) seventh with a four-pitch walk and bunt single, respectively. Two batters later Sergio Aguirre was intentionally walked to bring up Maddy, who drove the first pitch of the at-bat to right field, scoring Montalvo.
Then Montavlo pitched the bottom of the seventh and retired Fossil Ridge (2-12-2, 1-4) in order with back-to-back strikeouts and a liner to second.
Jay Ramos singled in Colby Pelt with two outs in the bottom of the sixth for the Panthers that tied the game at 3-3.
