Witten was hired at Liberty Christian before the 2021 season and spent the past five seasons with the Warriors – turning them into a strong TAPPS powerhouse.

After struggling in his first year, Witten went 10-2 in 2022 while reaching the regional round in D2 – losing to FW All Saints 37-20.

Then the Warriors won back-to-back TAPPS state championships – D2 in 2023 and D1 in 2024. They finished up 8-4 this past season.

They wrapped up a 14-0 season in 2023 beating Austin Regents 52-10 in the title game. They avenged their playoff loss a season before by beating All Saints 45-17 in the semifinals.

Despite moving up a division, LCS competed well in D1 and went 12-1 during the 2024 season. They beat D1 power Dallas Parish twice that season including in the champ game 45-24 to go back-to-back. It was Parish’s only champ game loss during the past seven seasons (Parish has gone to seven straight title games including in 2025, winning six).

Witten has two sons that played for him at LCS – CJ, who is a linebacker at Rice and Cooper, who is a current 2027 linebacker and 5-star recruit. Cooper is rated the #1 2027 linebacker in the country by 247Sports and holds 29 offers.

According to MaxPreps, Cooper played in seven games this season on offense and defense. He finished with 709 yards on 41 catches and 12 touchdowns while posting 89 tackles, one interception, seven forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries.

During his NFL career, Jason Witten played with the Dallas Cowboys for over 15 years. He was a 4-time All-Pro selection, 11-time Pro Bowl selection and finished with over 1,200 catches, 13,000 yards and 74 touchdowns. He ranks second all-time in career catches and yards for a tight end only behind Tony Gonzalez. Travis Kelce (Chiefs) sits 44 yards behind Witten.
