Final Day Of The Mansfield Spring Creek Invitational – Plano East knocks off Highland Park & More

MANSFIELD – Star 2028 Arianna Robinson scored 14 of her game-high 30 points to lead Plano East past Highland Park 56-34 in the seventh place game of the Mansfield ISD Spring Creek BBQ Invitational on Wednesday.

Robinson scored 14 of the Panthers’ 18 first-quarter points as they led the Scots 18-3 after the opening period. Robinson hit two threes in the quarter and finished with four from behind the arc.

She was held scoreless in the second quarter, but Plano East still led 29-15 at the intermission.

Robinson scored six in the third and 10 in the fourth quarter.

Hailey Reed added three 3-pointers and 13 points for the Panthers.

Flower Mound couldn’t hold onto its halftime lead as the Jaguars fell to Shadow Creek 58-52 in the fifth place game on Wednesday. It was a game between two Top 25 teams in Class 6A with SC at #8 and FM at #22.

2027 forward Maci Pringle was named to the all-tourney team. She had 10 points

Lorelei Ebert and Brooklyn Gray led the Jaguars with four 3-pointers and 16 points apiece.

The Jags led 33-26, but the Sharks outscored them in the third quarter 13-5 to grab a one-point lead entering the final period. Emily Tran gave the Jags a 40-39 advantage with two free throws before SC scored the next five points.

Ebert went off the glass to pull within two and Pringle tied it at 46-46.

Both teams traded threes to make it 49-49 with 3:05 left to play. The Sharks pulled away with the next seven points.

FM head coach Sherika Nelson won her 400th career game on Tuesday.

Led by Dawn Jones’ 21 points, Cedar Hill beat Coppell 58-45 in the consolation final on Wednesday. Jones and Coppell’s Adriana Reijnen (Arkansas commit) were named to the all-tourney team.

The Longhorns, #16 in the 6A poll, held a 14-13 lead after one quarter and then scored seven straight points in the second to extend the lead to 20-13. Cameera Jackson went 7 of 7 from the free throw line and Cedar Hill led Coppell 33-19 at the intermission.

Cedar Hill outscored the Cowgirls 19-6 in the second period.

Molly Crawford drained a corner three for Coppell to pull within 45-38 and then Reijnen made a nice pass down low for Avary Campbell, who was fouled and made a layup. Campbell made her free throw and the Cowgirls trailed 47-43 with four minutes left in the fourth.

Cedar Hill scored the next nine points to close the game out. Reijnen, Campbell, Prisha Kolhe and Amber Coffey all led the Cowgirls with eight points each. Jackson finished with 19 points for the Longhorns.

Crandall pulled within three in the fourth quarter after trailing by double digits in the first half, but the Pirates couldn’t complete the comeback – losing to Amarillo 43-34 in the third place game on Wednesday.

Mya and Sophia Davis were both named to the all-tourney team for Crandall (14-9). The Pirates finished fourth out of 28 teams after having two of the more impressive wins in the tournament. After beating Mesquite Horn in the first round, Crandall upset Frisco Memorial and Shadow Creek in back-to-back games on Tuesday.

Memorial came in #21 in 5A while Shadow Creek is #8 in 6A.

The Pirates struggled out the gate against Amarillo, missing their first 10 field goal attempts. The Sandies, #8 in 5A, raced out to an 11-0 lead. Mya Davis made Crandall’s first bucket at the 2:18 mark of the opening quarter. Sophia Davis drained a three and Crandall trailed 11-5 after one.

Crandall trailed 28-14 at the break, but came back to make it 33-27 entering the fourth. A Sophia Davis basket trimmed the deficit to 35-32 with 4:17 left to play, but the Sandies got back-to-back buckets from Ella Brown and Keanu Allen to help pull away.

Sophia Davis had a team-high 16 points while Mya Davis added six.

Little Rock defeated Har-Ber 54-40.
