Braxton Cole scored with three seconds left and Wakeland escaped with a 35-28 win over Frisco on Thursday night to stay undefeated on the season at 8-0.
Wakeland improves to 5-0 in District 5-5A D1 while Frisco falls to 3-2 in district and 4-2 overall.
The Wolverines led 24-14 at the intermission, but the Raccoons came back to take a 28-27 lead with 8:33 left in the fourth quarter. Frisco QB Cobyn Harbert ran in a score to get his team within six and then connected with Lowery Asel in the fourth for the lead.
Jayden Maples found Cedric Thornton just before halftime to give Wakeland a 24-14 lead. Maples finished with 17 of 24 passing for 227 yards and three touchdowns. Thornton had two touchdown catches and 58 yards receiving.
Harbert led Frisco with one TD pass and a pair of touchdown runs. Brennen Lacey ran for 61 yards and one score for the Raccoons while Cole led the Wakeland rushing game with 108 yards and one touchdown.
