Just weeks after facing the University of Texas in the Women’s College World Series alongside Texas Tech, former Aledo star pitcher Brenlee Gonzales is joining the Longhorns – she announced her transfer on Thursday.

“I am excited to announce my commitment to the University of Texas. Thank you to Coach White, Coach Singelton, and Coach PR for this amazing opportunity. Look forward to playing with some amazing athletes! #HookEm,” she said on Twitter.

Gonzales appeared in 12 games with one start this past season for Tech.

She pitched in 12 1/3 innings and posted a 2.84 ERA along with a 2-0 record and 12 strikeouts. She picked up her first win of the season against Penn State at the NFCA Leadoff Classic, recording the last four outs.

While at Aledo, Gonzales helped lead the Ladycats to two state tournament appearances in 2022 and 2024. She was ranked the 11th best pitcher for her class in the country according to Extra Innings. During her senior year, Gonzales posted a stellar 0.81 ERA and 173 strikeouts. She also hit 4 home runs from the plate and had 21 runs batted in.

Additionally in 2024, Gonzales finished with a 19-1 record while having career marks in record, ERA, innings, strikeouts, hits, runs batted in, doubles and home runs. In three years with Aledo, she went 39-4 overall, 13-0 in district and had a career 1.23 ERA and 352 Ks.

Texas Tech made history this season with its first trip to the WCWS and just fell short against Texas in three games in the champ series.
