The UIL high school football state title games will remain at AT&T Stadium in Arlington for at least the next two seasons, Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Insider Matt Stepp confirmed in a Twitter post on Monday. The contract with Jerry’s World will last just before Christmas of 2024.
UIL state football championship games have been at AT&T Stadium since 2010, with the exception of 2015 when the games were held at NRG Stadium in Houston. During the 2009 season, games were played at the Alamodome in San Antonio. So championships have been at AT&T in 12 of the past 13 seasons.
AT&T Stadium opened in May of 2009 and was previously named Cowboys Stadium from 2009-13.
The stadium can hold close to 105,000 people.
The 12 state champs from 2022 are Duncanville, DeSoto, South Oak Cliff, Aledo, Carthage, China Spring, Franklin, Gunter, Albany, Hawley, Benjamin and Westbrook. DFW saw five champs including the top four divisions.
Duncanville, DeSoto, Aledo and SOC games combined for 135,000 people.
The record for a single game remains Allen-Pearland in 2013 (54,347).
The UIL also confirmed that next year’s state basketball games will stay at the Alamodome in SA.
