Former Aledo star running back Jase McClellan declares for NFL Draft

After four years and 44 games played, Alabama running back and Aledo grad Jase McClellan announced he is declaring for the NFL Draft. McClellan rushed 355 times for 1,991 yards with 18 touchdowns in four years for the Crimson Tide.

According to several websites, McCleallan is projected as a sixth round draft pick.

McClellan was previously committed to the Oklahoma Sooners when he flipped his commitment to the Tide during the 2019 early signing day period. As a freshman in 2020, McClellan appeared in 12 games for Bama and rushed for 245 yards on 23 attempts and scored two touchdowns.

His production hit another level during last two years.

As a junior in 2022, McClellan rushed 112 times for 655 yards and seven TDs in 13 games while averaging 5.8 yards per carry. This season, he set career highs with 14 games played, 180 rushes, 890 yards and eight touchdowns. He also added six touchdown receptions and 40 catches in his career.

Bama beat Georgia 27-24 in the SEC championship to clinch a spot in the NCAA national college football playoffs. In the semifinals against Michigan, McClellan led all rushers with 87 yards while adding 14 carries and two touchdowns as the Crimson Tide lost 27-20 in overtime.

Coming out of Aledo HS, McClellan was a 4-star back and ranked 46th nationally while the sixth best running back for the 2020 class. He was selected in the Under Armour All-American game and the Nike’s The Opening during the summer of 2019. After a limited freshman season, he went on to rush for over 5,000 yards and 27 touchdown in his final three seasons.

At Aledo, he helped the Bearcats to four state championship appearances with three state titles.

McClellan was voted state champ offensive MVP twice.
