Three players from the Dallas-Fort Worth area had 10+ kills as #5 Texas rolled past #2 Wisconsin 25-22, 20-25, 25-13, 25-16 on Thursday in the NCAA D1 national semifinals in Tampa.
Texas (27-4), the defending champ, will play in its 10th national final and play #1 Nebraska at 2 pm CT on Sunday.
Katy’s Madisen Skinner led the way with 18 kills, nine digs and six aces.
Southlake Carroll grad Asija O’Neal continues her impressive season with 11 kills for a whopping 0.688 hitting percentage with two aces and four blocks. Mansfield’s Molly Phillips and Frisco Liberty’s Jenna Wenaas chipped in 10 kills apiece.
Weatherford’s Carissa Barnes, in her first year with UT, had eight digs.
The Longhorns as a team had 57 kills on 135 attempts – posting a respectable 0.274 hitting percentage. Meanwhile, Wisconsin had 42 kills on 121 attempts for a 0.223 percentage.
UT has five players from DFW which includes Justin Northwest great Kenna Miller.
