Prosper senior, top juniors among players named to 2023 MaxPreps All-America volleyball team

60 high school volleyball players from across the country were named to the 2023 MaxPreps All-America Team on Tuesday. Lauren Harden out of Hamilton Southeastern HS in Indiana was named National Player of the Year.

Six players from Texas were FIRST TEAM HITTERS – including Prosper senior Ayden Ames.

The Texas signee had a career-high 575 kills as the Eagles reached the Class 6A state semifinals.

Joining Ames were Colleyville Heritage junior Suli Davis (BYU) and Plano Prestonwood junior Macaria Spears (Texas). Davis and CHHS reached Class 5A state semifinals after winning the title in 2022. She was as versatile as they come as Davis posted 16 triple-doubles. Spears, who was 2022 Gatorade Texas Player of the Year, helped the Lions to their second straight state championship in TAPPS 6A.

Class 6A state champ Spring Grand Oaks had two players as first-team hitters in sophomore Halle Thompson and Samara Coleman. Grand Oaks finished the season with an astounding 50-1 record. San Antonio’s Cornerstone junior Megan Fitch was the sixth and final hitter from Texas on first team.

2022 6A champ Dripping Springs had one player among second-team hitters in sophomore Henley Anderson.

Rounding out the team were Prestonwood senior Camille Edwards (Michigan) and McKinney Boyd senior Carson Eickenloff (Ole Miss). Both players were considered second-team all-around. Edwards posted 602 assists and 145 digs for the Lions. Eickenloff was among the leaders in triple doubles and helped Boyd to a 31-2 record.
