Trailing 24-10 at halftime, Lancaster’s defense shut out Longview in the second half.
Behind a 10-0 out-put in the final quarter and a 37-yard field goal by Andres Castro as time expired, the Tigers defeated the Lobos 27-24 on Friday in Forney during a Class 5A Division 1 regional semifinal.
Lancaster improved to 8-5 and avenged a 52-35 loss to Longview in Week 5.
The Tigers knocked off one District 7-5A team and will move on to play another – against Forney during next week’s Region 2 final. Forney won the Week 8 matchup 21-20 in overtime.
Forney (12-1) defeated Richland 61-40 on Friday.
Lancaster out-gained Longview, the #2 team in the 5A D1 rankings, 363-249 and held the Lobos to only 71 yards passing on 5 of 10 attempts.
QB Carter Jones was an efficient 19 of 28 for 171 yards and two touchdowns to Kameron Robinson, who finished with 85 yards on five catches.
Star running back Kewan Lacy led all rushers with 177 yards on 22 carries.
