Texas state champs Duncanville, DeSoto ranked nationally by MaxPreps

Two football teams from the Dallas-Fort Worth area were ranked in the Top 25 nationally by MaxPreps.

Both won state titles last season.

Both are in the same district.

Class 6A D1 state champ Duncanville and Class 6A D2 state champ DeSoto not only found themselves in the Top 25, but in the Top 15. Duncanville came in at No. 6. DeSoto came in at No. 13.

Duncanville went 15-0 overall last season and 7-0 in District 11-6A.

The Panthers outscored teams 625-156. They beat Prosper 41-0 in the state semifinals and Galena Park North Shore in the title game 28-21. They also beat DeSoto 41-17 in district play.

Duncanville has four 2024 players in the Top 125 Texans by 247Sports including 5-star Texas defensive end commit Colin Simmons (No. 6) and 4-star LSU running back commit Caden Durham (No. 31). The Panthers also have the top-ranked 2025 Texan in LSU receiver commit Dakorien Moore (LSU).

The Eagles went 14-2 overall and 6-1 in district. They outscored teams 697-324.

DeSoto beat Denton Guyer 47-28 in the semifinals and Austin Vandegrift 42-17 in the title game. The Eagles have three 2024 players in the Top 200 Texans Mario Buford (Nebraska), Brandon Booker (Stanford) and Ronnell McLain (Houston). They have three more players in the 2025 rankings including 4-star running back Deondrae Riden.

Mater Dei from California is the top-ranked team in the country.

California and Florida have four teams in the Top 25. Georgia has three.
