Gabby Bright tossed a three-hit shutout and struck out 13 as the Cardinals beat the Riders in a non-district clash on Monday night.
FWC improves to 17-3 overall.
Bright laid down a bunt in the bottom of the first inning and the throw to first base went into right field as Bright and Landry Lehner scored to make it 2-0.
Bright and THESA starting pitcher Gracelyn Jones (2031) went toe-to-toe for the next four innings until FWC scored four in the bottom of the sixth. The Cardinals loaded the bases with no outs before Jones got the force at home plate.
After a 2-2 count, Elle Andujar fouled off four consecutive pitches before taking one up the middle to center for a two-run single that extended the lead to 4-0.
Dallas Christian 16, Flower Mound Coram Deo 0
Three players had four RBIs each led with Vivian Hernandez’s three-run home run as the Chargers defeated the Lions on Monday night.
17 batters came to the plate in the second inning as Dallas Christian scored 12 times. Hernandez hit her home run along with an RBI triple in the second.
Chloe Rodriguez hit two doubles with four RBIs while Chloe Solis had a double, triple and four RBIs.
Rodriguez and Briar Boothe combined for the perfect game in three innings. Rodriguez struck out five of six batters faced.
Sanger 18, Celina 16
In a game that featured 35 hits and 34 runs, the Indians rallied back from deficits of 10-5 and 15-10 to beat the Bobcats in District 9-4A on Monday night. Sanger improved to 2-0 while Celina dropped to 2-1.
Celina scored five times in the bottom of the second to take a 6-4 lead highlighted by RBIs from Ashlyn Stanish, Ta’Lyn Houchin, Izzy Boddie and Rylie Storm. Boddie hit one of two grand slams in the third to extend the Bobcats’ lead to 10-5.
A two-run double by Abby Chapmond sparked Sanger’s five-run fourth inning that tied the game at 10. The Indians also got three RBI singles from Tarryn Liechty, Zoe Bassham and Sophia Troegle.
In the bottom of the fourth, Boddie hit her second grand slam to give Celina a 15-10 advantage.
A two-run home run from Paige Child and a two-run double by Bassham got Sanger within 15-14 in the top of the fifth. The Indians got RBI singles from Liechty and Bassham in the sixth to give them a 18-15 lead.
Celina got two runners on and the game-winning run at the plate in the bottom of the seventh inning, but Child got the Bobcats to ground out into a fielder’s choice and pop fly to center.
Bassham went 4 for 4 with five RBIs for Sanger while Celina was led by Boddie’s two grand slams and nine runs batted in. Jayda Garcia had five hits, five runs and three steals for the Bobcats.
Grapevine Faith 5, FW All Saints 2
Fresh off her commitment with Northwestern State, Michaela Hamilton had three hits and one home run during the Lions district win over the Saints on Monday night.
Hamilton is the daughter of Texas Rangers legend Josh Hamilton.
Elle Powers and Ainslee Dignan hit back-to-back triples in the top of the fourth inning and the Lions scored three times to take a 4-2 lead.
Jocelyn Monroe allowed two hits and struck out 14 for Faith. Heidi Peterson struck out 13 for All Saints.
Dallas Ursuline 21, Bishop Lynch 8
The Bears hit five home runs as they beat the Friars to open district play on Monday night.
Leah Drake and Kate Hasik both homered and drove in five runs. Ursuline scored in every inning with five runs in the top of the first.
Ursuline had 23 hits with five from Hasik and seven different players had multiple hits. Brenly Fink, Tallulah Washington and Tatum Kreutz also hit home runs for the Bears.
Anna Medaris led Lynch with three RBIs.

Camila Rodriguez went 8 for 8 with two home runs, four triples, one double and 12 runs batted in to lead the Saints in their doubleheader over the Eagles on Monday.
Savanna Salinas and Reagan Vowell also homered in Game 2.
Allison Munnerlyn tossed two no-hitters with each game lasting three innings. She struck out nine total.

Matisse Edward led the Cowgirls’ shutout victory in four innings against the Chargers in District 11-4A on Monday night. Edward allowed two hits, one walk and struck out five.
Willow Park Trinity 8, FW Temple Christian 0
Christina Kuschel tossed a two-hit shutout and struck out eight to lead the Eagles in district action on Monday. Kuschel, Alex Ickert and Emily Ickert all drove in two runs.
