In a rematch of the 2025 state title game, Decatur was led by Oklahoma State signee Bralyn Peck’s 33 points as the Eagles beat Waco La Vega 58-54 in overtime during the Class 4A D1 final on Friday at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
#1 Decatur ends the season 37-4 with back-to-back titles. The Eagles, who started the season as the preseason #2 in 4A by the TABC, beat the Pirates 53-41 last year to win their first state championship in program history. Last season’s trip to state was the program’s first since 1961 and now Decatur is back-to-back champ.

Decatur committed a traveling turnover with 25 seconds before La Vega missed a layup at 16 seconds. The Pirates got two offensive rebounds, but missed back-to-back layups and Brazile brought down the defensive board before Decatur called a timeout near mid court with 8.9 left.
Brazile threw in the inbound pass to Peck in the paint, who scored and tied it with under 6 seconds.
La Vega went down the court and got inside the arc, but couldn’t get a shot off before the buzzer – sending it to overtime.
