Richland pitcher Stacy Jennings tossed a three hitter as the Royals opened the season with a 2-0 win over Euless Trinity on Tuesday.
The Angelo State commit walked two and struck out five.
Trinity’s Peyton Hosey (Colorado State) allowed four hits.
Mia Berain hit a one out single in the third and Sam Aguilar drove in a run to give Richland a 1-0 lead. The Royals called for the double steal and Berain crossed the plate for a 2-0 edge.
The Trojans only had two runners in scoring position, with neither getting past second base.
Next up for Richland (1-0) – the Mid-Cities Tournament Thursday through Saturday.
