Haltom running back shines again vs Martin, Buffs win 3rd straight contest

Last season, Haltom edged out Arlington Martin 56-49 as star back Drico Roberson rumbled to a tune of over 400 yards total offense including 394 on the ground with five touchdowns.

Friday night, Haltom and Martin met again nearly one year to the day and Roberson shined again for the Buffs.

Roberson accounted for 265 yards and six touchdowns as Haltom won by a touchdown again, 45-38 over the Warriors. The Buffs have won the past three games and improved to 3-1 in District 8-6A.

Martin dropped to 1-3.

With three games left, Haltom sits alone in third place behind SGP and Arlington Bowie, both 4-0. Martin is in sixth place. However, the Buffs have the biggest test the next two weeks when they play those undefeated district teams in Bowie (Week 9) and SGP (Week 10). Then they close out with Arl. Sam Houston in Week 11.

Haltom lost to Arlington and defeated Arl. Lamar – both teams are behind the Buffs tied for fourth place with 2-2 records.

Against Martin, QB Dominique Mounivong threw for 196 yards and the two TDs to Roberson. Khristopher Parks rushed seven times for 114 yards. The Warriors were led by Daylon Cobbs, who gained 128 yards rushing and 114 yards receiving.
