Arlington Oakridge adds NFL Hall Of Fame running back LaDainian Tomlinson to its football coaching staff

The Arlington Oakridge Owls hired former NFL running back LaDainian Tomlinson as its new run game coordinator and running backs coach on Tuesday.

Tomlinson was inducted into the Pro Football Hall Of Fame in 2017. He was selected by the San Diego Chargers with the fifth overall pick of the 2001 NFL Draft – after a illustrious college career at TCU. While with the Horned Frogs, Tomlinson rushed for 5,000 career yards.

He rushed for 2,000 yards as a senior and as a junior, set the single game rushing record with 406 yards.

He was a 5-time Pro Bowl selection in the NFL and finished with 13,684 yards rushing (5th most all time) along with 145 touchdowns (2nd). He added 4,772 yards receiving and has 163 total TDs are third most behind Jerry Rice and Emmitt Smith.

Tomlinson finished out his career with the New York Jets.

Oakridge went 7-3 last season and 3-3 in SPC play. The Owls rushed for over 2,000 yards as a team led by 2026 back Cole Worthington (1,300 yards, 20+ TDs).
