High school football players from around the country got to take part in the early signing period on Wednesday. Among the top athletes included Duncanville QB Keelon Russell, who signed his letter of intent with the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Russell is a 5-star player and ranked the #1 athlete in Texas among the 2025 class according to 247Sports.
He’s also ranked 2nd overall in the nation only behind Belleville (MI) quarterback Bryce Underwood. Russell had 23 offers and was committed to SMU. He de-committed from the Mustangs in June and on the same day, chose Alabama.
Russell has led the Panthers to back to back state titles in Class 6A D1.
The Panthers (12-0) face Cypress Bridgeland on Saturday at Waco Midway in the Region 2 championship. He’s coming off a 6 TD performance last week against The Woodlands.
On the season, Russell has thrown for 3,652 yards on 71.5 completion percentage and 52 touchdowns against just two interceptions.
During the previous two seasons, Russell has accounted for over 6,000 yards and 60 TDs.
