Midlothian volleyball star commits to Tarleton State

Avery Shanahan, who has helped the Midlothian Panthers to a Top 10 area ranking in Class 5A plus a 32-7 overall record and the district lead in 15-5A, has committed to continue her volleyball career at Tarleton State.

The 6-1 middle blocker has been among the DFW leaders in blocks and hitting percentage.

She is having a career year with 213 kills and hitting 0.439, and has added 77 total blocks. Shanahan has hit 0.500 or better in 15 matches this season.

Shanahan was voted first team all district last season as a junior.

The Panthers will finish out the season against rival Midlothian Heritage and Terrell. They have already clinched a playoff berth. They will be the #1 seed in the D1 bracket.
