Flower Mound Marcus grad Lexi Benson homered twice and drove in four on Saturday during SFA’s 14-4 win over Southern Utah. Her two home runs and four RBI in one game are a career best. She finished with three hits and three runs. It’s her second game this season and third overall with three hits. She also had three hits on April 1, 2022 against Sam Houston State.
SFA improved to 5-3 in the WAC.
Benson put her stamp early with a two-run home run to center in the first inning. She would have a solo home run in the second and an RBI single in the third. The Lumberjacks scored nine times in the third inning and ended the game by the fifth inning.
Benson was one of the top hitters in DFW during her time at Marcus.
She is hitting 0.349 this season in 19 games. She had nine home runs and 33 RBI during her first two years with the Lumberjacks.
Brewer grad Sydney Carithers hit her first home run of the season in the second inning and finished with a career-high four RBI. She had 37 hits, two home runs and 16 RBI last season as a freshman. She started in 52 games and played 54.
Carithers was first-team all-district at Brewer all four years and defensive player of the year in 2021.
Southlake Carroll grad Gaby Garcia went 1 for 3 with a walk and run scored for SFA. Mansfield Legacy grad Kelby Robbins went 2 for 4 with an RBI and run scored.
