Southlake Carroll and Lucas Lovejoy were announced the winners of the 2023-24 UIL Lone Star Cup in Class 6A and 5A, respectively. Carroll claimed its ninth LS Cup all-time – third most. The Dragons have won two of the last three titles in 6A.
They were highlighted by a state title in boys cross country and also finished as state runner-up in girls cross country, and in both girls and boys swimming and diving. Additionally, they advanced to the state semifinals in football and reached the regional semifinals in girls basketball, girls soccer and volleyball.
Lovejoy got over the hump this year to win its third LS Cup after coming in second the last two times. The Leopards brought home state titles in both boys and girls cross country, as well as in volleyball. They also finished as state runner-up in baseball, reached the regional finals in football, the regional semifinals in girls soccer and won a district championship in academics.
Canyon Randall won in Class 4A, Holliday in 3A, Shiner in 2A and Gail Borden County in 1A
The UIL Lone Star Cup program began during the 1997-98 school year and recognizes six high schools (one in each of the six UIL conferences) based on their overall team achievement in a variety of sanctioned academic, athletic and music championships. All UIL member high schools in good standing are included in contention for the UIL Lone Star Cup. Trophy presentations will take place in the fall at events chosen by the winning schools.

Carroll scored 113 points in Class 6A while Allen came in third with 90 points. Flower Mound, Keller, Duncanville and Rockwall also finished Top 10 in the largest classification.
Lovejoy scored 109 points in Class 5A – beating out second place Aledo’s 91 points and Frisco Wakeland’s 90 points. Colleyville Heritage came in fourth with 79 points while Argyle finished in a tie for eighth place.
In just in its second year, Frisco Panther Creek scored 89 points to come in fourth place in Class 4A behind Randall, Canyon and Boerne. Celina and Decatur also ended in the Top 10.
Brock and Gunter finished third and fourth in 3A while Tolar and Collinsville were fourth and eighth in 2A.
