Madi Doty, who is coming off a no-hitter last week, tossed a 1-hitter in Game 1 vs Franklin during Grandview’s 5-1 win on Wednesday night in the Class 3A D1 Region 3 championship.

Game 2 is set for Friday night at Lake Belton.

Doty, a University of Texas signee, no-hit Orangefield during the previous round and struck out 14 batters. On Wednesday, Doty allowed 1 hit in 7 innings with 1 walk and 13 strikeouts.

In a tight game, Grandview scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to pull away. All 3 runs came with 2 outs.

Brooklyn Clark hit a 1-out double and Addy McElroy drew a 2-out walk. SJ Mann doubled in Clark and then scored on a 2-run single from Kenna Collins.

Doty retired the final 10 batters after giving up an RBI double in the top of the 4th.

The Zebras are a win away from securing a spot in the state semifinals for the 4th straight season. Grandview beat Whitesboro in the 3A D1 title game last year.
