GEORGETOWN – Perfection.

It’s not a word used enough in high school sports because it rarely happens.

Prosper Walnut Grove etched its boys soccer legacy already last season – capturing the Class 5A D1 state championship in just the program’s second year.

On Friday, the Wildcats continued their historic and dominant run, beating College Station 2-0 in the 5A D1 title match at Birkelbach Field to go back-to-back while finishing off a perfect season.

Walnut Grove finishes 31-0 and became the eighth boys soccer team to have a perfect champ season in UIL history – the first since Brownville Rivera in 2015 (28-0).

It’s only the third time that a boys team went perfect with at least 30 wins, joining 2013 Waco University (33-0) and 2007 FM Marcus (30-0).

Senior midfielder Mason Kutch capped off a stellar high school career with MVP honors. Kutch was the Gatorade Texas Player Of The Year last season and will continue his career at DePaul.

The Wildcats’ defense was tremendous after not allowing a single shot to College Station. Walnut Grove finished with 3 shots in the first half and 5 in the second half.

Walnut Grove also had 6 corners in the second half and 7 overall against 2 total by College Station (16-8-4), which was appearing in the championship for the first time.

Kutch, who has scored over 80 goals the past 2 seasons, lined up for a free kick from about 20 yards away when the ball was blocked and found its way to Isaac Marah on the left side. Marah pushed the ball past the goalkeeper to the far post for the score as Walnut Grove took a 1-nil lead in the 32nd minute.

Marah finished off the play with a celebration that included a back-flip.

Leading 1-0 at the intermission, it didn’t take long after the break for Kutch to find the net. He dribbled through the College Station back line and sent a strike unassisted for a 2-nil lead in the 42nd minute.

Walnut Grove hasn’t dropped a match in 2 seasons after going 25-0-2 in 2025 following a 3-2 overtime win over San Antonio Southwest in the title game.
