RECAPS

Arlington Heights rallies by Trimble Tech

Trailing 5-0 in the second inning, FW Arlington Heights erupted for 9 runs in the bottom of the fourth to come back and beat FW Trimble Tech 15-5 in District 7-5A on Tuesday night.

Heights improved to 15-10-2 overall and 10-1 in district.

Tech dropped to 9-16-1 and 3-6.

The Bulldogs took a 5-0 lead in the top of the second inning with RBI doubles from Jose Rodriguez and Mario Reyna, plus RBI singles by Erick Saucedo and Jon Villanueva.

Heights got 3 back in the third highlighted by a 2-run single from Ben Harris.

During its big fourth inning, Heights scored 6 runs with 2 outs. Jayden Hernandez’s 2-run triple pushed the Jackets in front 6-5. An RBI double by Cole Morris and 2-run error on Tech bumped the margin to 11-5. Juan Soto capped the big frame with an RBI double to right field.

Omar Arguello and Adrian Tristan added RBI doubles in the fifth.

Lamar shuts out Bowie in key 8-6A tilt

Colton Quesada hit a 2-run home run in the first inning and made it hold up on the mound as the Vikings downed Arlington Bowie 2-0 in an important District 8-6A contest on Tuesday at Lamar High School.

With 2 out in the bottom of the first, Brock Jackson was hit by a pitch for Lamar (10-16-1 overall, 7-4 district). Preston White came on to run for Jackson, but got to jog around the bases as Quesada hit the first pitch he saw over the left field wall for a 2-0 lead.

Quesada, who went 2 for 3 at the plate with the homer and a double, was just as hot on the mound tossing 7 innnings of 3-hit ball while striking out 11 and walking just 1.

Andrew Vega pitched well for Bowie (9-16, 5-6) allowing just 3 hits in 6 innings of work with 5 strikeouts and 2 walks.

Legacy slips past Lake Ridge in battle of top 3-6A teams

Cade Connor tossed a complete game 2-hitter as Mansfield Legacy downed Mansfield Lake Ridge in a battle of top contenders in District 3-6A on Tuesday at Legacy High School.

Legacy (21-7 overall, 8-3 district) got a 1-out single from Ethan Weaver to leadoff the bottom of the seventh inning in a 1-1 tie. Weaver stole second and came home on a walk-off, lined single to center by Lawson Hicks. Connor allowed 1 unearned run while striking out 7 and walking 1.

Jeremiah Thomas had both hits, including a double, for Lake Ridge (17-8-2, 7-2). Preston Willick reached on a 1-out error in the third and scored on another error by the Broncos to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead.

Grant Petersen tied the game in the fourth on a 2-out triple that preceded an RBI single by Eli Dugan.

Brock edges Mineral Wells to stay atop 6-4A

Brock remained undefeated in District 6-4A play with a 3-1 victory over Mineral Wells on Monday at Brock High School.

Brock (20-3 overall, 8-0 district) scored twice in the bottom of the second when Weston Pickard led off with a triple and scored on a single by Colton Ripple. Hunter Martin lined a single to right to move Ripple to third where he came home on a sacrifice fly by Canon Lightfoot.

A leadoff walk in the sixth by Martin, an infield single by Lightfoot and a sacrifice by Braxon Roberts moved Martin to third where Evan O’Connor drove him home with a sac fly to right. Pickard started on the mound for the Eagles, scattering 4 hits and allowing 1 earned run in 4 1/3 innings of work.

Austin Gallogly tossed the final 2 2/3 no-hit, no-run innings for Brock striking out 6. Newt Schroeder drove in the only run for Mineral Wells (14-9-2, 3-4) on a ground out in the fourth inning that plated Brogan Sims who had led off the inning with a single.

Kennedale completes sweep of Godley

Nathan Arber and Dilon Sandoval drove in 3 runs each as Kennedale finished a sweep of Godley 9-5 in a key District 12-4A contest on Monday at Godley High School.

Kennedale (17-7 overall, 6-4 district) escaped with a 9-8 win in 8 innings on Friday over Godley (16-8, 5-5) to help bolster their chances for a playoff berth. Godley is still very much in the hunt for a post season berth as well.

Arber’s bases-loaded double to right gave Kennedale a 3-0 lead in the top of the first, but Godley answered with 3 of its own in the bottom of the inning highlighted by a pair of sacrifice flies by Tabor Anderson and Brison Loera.

Sandoval doubled in a run in the fourth and drove in 2 with another double in the sixth.
