The 2026 Turf Wars Softball Tournament will start Thursday Feb. 26 and run through Saturday Feb. 28 across nine different sites in DFW.
Southlake Carroll, LD Bell, Euless Trinity, Eaton, Justin Northwest, Byron Nelson, Birdville, Denton Guyer and Argyle are host sites for the three-day event.
Among the teams playing this week include Melissa, Denton Guyer, Aledo and Birdville. Melissa came into the season ranked #1 in the country by MaxPreps after winning a state title in back-to-back years.
Melissa went 38-1 last season on its way to winning the 5A D1 state championship over Barbers Hill. The Cardinals set a national record with 122 home runs.
Guyer has reached the state semifinals in three consecutive seasons. The Wildcats’ season ended against eventual champions Pearland in the 2023 6A title game and Weslaco in the 2024 6A semifinals. Guyer lost in the semifinal round against Forney last season.
Aledo and Birdville played in the 5A D1 Region 1 championship with the Ladycats advancing. Aledo came into the season as the only program in the two largest classifications across the state to go to at least the state semifinals four times in the past five seasons.
Out of state teams playing this weekend including College Station., Bushland, Odessa Permian, Lubbock Monterey, Waco Midway (6A D1 champ), Lubbock Coronado, Abilene, Magnolia West, Odessa, Wolfforth Frenship and Lubbock Cooper.
