Flower Mound duo playing for new pro volleyball team in DFW

New pro volleyball team, the Dallas Pulse will begin their inaugural season Saturday night at Frisco’s Comerica Center when they host Indianapolis.

The team will have 14 total home matches.

Among the players on the roster include Kaylee Cox and Geli Cyr, both 2021 graduates from Flower Mound HS. Shannon Winzer is the Dallas Pulse head coach.

Cox and Cyr helped the Jaguars to two state tournament appearances while winning the Class 6A championship in 2018. They also made the final four in 2020.

Cox posted 18 kills and 19 digs, and was named champ game MVP following a 3-1 win over Fort Bend Ridge Point in the 2018 title game. Cyr added 7 kills and 19 digs.

Cox finished her sophomore season with 524 kills and 599 digs while Cyr registered 450 kills and 464 digs.

The team finished 42-7.

The Jags came back two years later during the COVID year of 2020. The finished 22-2 after a narrow loss in the semifinals against Klein. In three seasons, Cox had 1463 kills, 1387 digs, 132 aces and 142 total blocks. Cyr had 1097 kills, 1169 digs, 95 aces and 86 total blocks. The Jags went 107-13 with Cox and Cyr.

Cox signed her letter of intent with Missouri before transferring to Western Kentucky after two seasons. An American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Region and All-American Honorable Mention, Cox was an anchor in the offense for the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers during her senior season in 2024. Cox led the Hilltoppers with 466 kills and ranked third in Conference-USA. She also led the Hilltoppers in aces per set (0.40), kills per set (3.70), points (563.5), points per set (4.47), service aces (50).

She played professionally with the Columbus Fury in 2025.

Cyr played four years at Arizona State. She was part of a major turnaround for the program, helping Arizona State win its first conference championship in program history in 2024, winning the Big 12 in its first season in the conference. She also helped ASU make the NCAA Tournament in 2023 and 2024, the former being the first time since 2015. That year, the team won two matches. She earned numerous accolades, including earning AVCA All-America Honorable Mention status her senior year in 2024. She also was named to the 2024 All-Big 12 First Team and 2023 Pac-12 Honorable Mention.
