The TCU volleyball team opened the 2025 NCAA tournament with a dominant showing over Stephen F. Austin 25-8, 26-24, 25-20 on Friday night.
TCU (21-10) takes on the Texas A&M vs Campbell winner in the second round on Saturday.
5 players from the metroplex are on TCU’s roster this season led by Lovejoy’s Rosemary Archer and Rockwall’s Becca Kelley. Also on the team: McKenzie Berg (Midlothian), Melanie McGann (Keller) and Mikala Young (Plano Prestonwood).
Kelley was second on the team with 10 kills while Evan Hendrix had a team-high 19 kills.
Alice Volpe highlighted the back row with 20 digs.
Ella Foti posted a double-double with 20 assists and 13 digs.
Archer added 10 assists and four digs.
SFA has eight players from DFW: Camryn Hill, Frisco Reedy, Caroline Kahle, Birdville, Haley Peterson, Burleson, Isabella Ortiz, Flower Mound, Jordan Henderson, Mansfield Legacy, Katherine Holtman, Argyle, Kyanna Creecy, McKinney, Sydney Lafferty, Rockwall.
Kahle had a team-high 10 digs while Ortiz chipped in four kills and three block assists.
Hill was second on the team with eight kills. Holtman added four kills.
