After dropping the opening set, Dallas Bishop Lynch went on to pick up one of the biggest upsets of the season, 24-26, 25-22, 25-20, 25-21 over Plano Prestonwood in their TAPPS 6A Regional playoff game on Thursday at Prestonwood HS.
Prestonwood came in as the 3x defending TAPPS 6A state champs and even beat Bishop Lynch in district play this year (3-1, 3-2).
The Friars snapped Prestonwood’s 70-match win streak against TAPPS teams and picked up their first win over the Lions since 2017 – ending a 20-game losing streak.
Prestonwood was looking for its fourth-straight state championship and fifth straight appearance in the title match. A loss in the final during the 2021 season was the Lions’ last playoff loss.
Bishop Lynch advances to the state tournament in Waco.
