You have to go back 69 days when the last time South Oak Cliff trailed in a football game. It was Week 3 against Longview which the Golden Bears ultimately won 20-17.
On Thursday, Mount Pleasant led 7-3 after the first quarter.
Then it was go time for SOC.
The Bears scored 43 unanswered points to take the area championship 46-7. SOC (11-1) will face Friday’s winner between Terrell and Huntsville in the third round. Huntsville and Terrell will play at Baylor University.
SOC rolled through district – without allowing a point in seven games.
Then the Bears beat Crandall 49-18 in the playoff opener.
On Thursday, QB Jayden Williams threw for 148 yards and a pair of touchdowns and added 27 yards on seven carries with one touchdown. Mikail Trotter led the game with 115 yards rushing and one touchdown. Nate Coleman and Torrin Teague caught TD passes from Williams.
SOC has been in the playoffs every year since 2003 and has reached the state champ game each of the past four years – winning titles in 2021 and 2022. Since 2003, this is the ninth time the Bears have reached the regional semifinals.
