Lovejoy alum Rosemary Archer led TCU with 26 assists as the Horned Frogs knocked off defending national champion Penn State 25-19, 25-15, 20-25, 19-25, 15-12 on Monday night.

After falling in its season opener, 3-1 vs #3 Pitt, TCU picked up its first win after a five-set thriller against #5 Penn State.

Becca Kelley, who graduated from Rockwall, was second on the team with 13 kills. Evan Hendrix had a team-high 14 kills.

TCU scored the first three points in the fifth set and then used an 8-2 run to go up seven (11-4). Penn State pulled within 11-9, but back-to-back hitting errors got the Frogs back up four.

Penn State committed a service error on match point.

Ella Foti chipped in 16 assists and four digs. Alice Volpe and Jalyn Gibson led the defense with 15 and 10 digs, respectively while the Frogs finished with 22 block assists and 11 blocks total.

TCU has five from DFW – Archer, Kelley, McKenzie Berg (Midlothian), Melanie McGann (Keller) and Mikala Young (Plano Prestonwood).
