Melissa catcher Hutton “Lulu” Adrian became the fourth Cardinals’ player to commit in September after she announced her plans to continue her softball career at Arkansas on Monday. Adrian joins pitcher Eloisa Maes (Arizona), second baseman Shug Bradford (Auburn) and outfielder Finlee Williams (Oklahoma) as September commitments.

Adrian has helped the Cardinals to back-to-back state championships. Melissa won the Class 5A title in 2024 after beating Harlingen South 8-0 and finishing with a 38-2-1 record. Adrian put together one of the all-time greatest freshman seasons in DFW softball history that included a single season record 22 home runs.

She also finished with a 0.500 batting average, 14 doubles, 58 hits and 66 runs batted in. Adrian was GM Sports All-Area Newcomer Of The Year. Adrian was also perfect behind the plate with no errors in 333 total chances.

Adrian followed it with a superb sophomore campaign in the spring as the Cardinals went 38-1 after a 4-2 win over MB Barbers Hill in the Class 5A Division 1 championship. Adrian posted a 0.604 average, 17 home runs, 15 doubles, 61 hits and 59 RBIs. She was named GM Sports All-Area Catcher Of The Year.

The Cardinals set a state record in 2024 with 92 home runs and then went on to smash the national record last season with 122 – breaking the previous mark of 105 set in 2022. 2026 third baseman Kennedy Bradley (Florida) broke Adrian’s record with 24 home runs. Williams finished with 19 home runs. Shortstop Caigan Crabtree, now a freshman at Texas, was two-time GM Sports All-Area Player Of The Year – going for 21 and 20 home runs in her final two seasons with Melissa.

Crabtree was 5A champ game MVP in 2024 with Maes winning the 5A D1 MVP last season.

Maes went 31-1 with the most wins in the state and posted a 1.30 ERA and 238 strikeouts.
