Aidan Birr, who graduated from Kennedale in 2022, made one of his biggest kicks in his career during Georgia Tech’s 24-21 upset win over #12 Clemson on Saturday.
Birr drilled the game-winning 55-yard field goal as time expired as the Yellowjackets picked up their first win over Clemson since 2014. The distance was Birr’s longest and it was also the longest game-winning field goal in program history.
He was a 3-star kicker at Kennedale and four-time all-district honoree, as well as two-time All-State in 2020 and 2021 when the Wildcats posted back-to-back 10-win seasons.
The redshirt sophomore also kicked a game winner last season to beat #10 Florida State in Dublin. Oddly enough, it also came with time expiring in a 24-21 win.
Midlothian’s Bryant Wesco Jr. had a big game for Clemson with seven catches, 126 yards and one touchdowns that went 73 yards.
