SOUTHLAKE – QB Angelo Renda led the offensive attack and #1 Southlake Carroll showed how much of a gap there is in District 4-6A following a dominating performance 44-6 over Euless Trinity on Friday night at Dragon Stadium.
Trinity started the game with a big gain as Zo Palmore took the first play from scrimmage 26 yards and into Carroll territory. But back-to-back penalties stalled the drive and the Trojans didn’t convert a fourth down play.
Carroll (4-0, 2-0) scored two touchdowns in 14 seconds.
Renda threw a 26-yard pass to Brock Boyd down inside the red zone. Renda is committed to PItt while Boyd is headed to Ohio State.
Renda would call his own number on a 2-yard TD run for a 7-0 lead with 5:37 left. The Dragons then recovered their onside attempt and on the next play, Renda tossed a 36-yard TD to big 6-5 WR Brody Knowles for a 14-0 lead.

The Trojans (3-1, 1-1) had to punt after going three and out, but Carroll was called for a 15-yard roughing the kicker penalty to give Trinity a first down. JT Harris rushed for 23 yards and Trinity would get down to the Carroll 28. But on fourth and 7, Palmore lost 10 yards and fumbled as Parker Harris recovered the ball at the 43.
Carrol went eight plays on its next scoring drive – highlighted by Renda’s 24-yard pass to Caden Mackey. Renda ran the read option and faked out the defense to score another touchdown, giving Carroll a 21-0 lead with eight minutes to go in the half.
Both teams would punt on their next possessions.
Trinity got a score just before the intermission – going 12 plays and 78 yards. Mack Lineweaver threw a short touchdown pass to Jaylon Donaldson with five seconds on the clock.

But the extra point was blocked by Carroll’s Jake Lucky and star kicker Gavin Strange was there to pick it up – returning 95 yards for two points. Carroll led 23-6 at the break.
The Dragons scored two more touchdowns in the third quarter.
They took the opening drive of the frame 58 yards in under 90 seconds as Renda threw a dime to Boyd for a 44-yard score and 30-6 lead. Then Harris picked off a Trinity pass on third down and RB Brooks Biggers scored on an 8-yard TD run for a 37-6 lead midway through the period.
Renda added a 59-yard TD to Blake Gunter in the fourth quarter before the reserves came in.
