Late Sunday, Gordon High School was hit with a F-1 tornado that reached nearly 105 miles per hour. Due to the damages, the school district canceled classes for the week.

Gordon is about an hour west of Fort Worth.

According to CBS News, Gordon High School had extensive damage to school property while some of the classrooms were flooded. Gordon ISD Superintendent Holly Campbell told CBS News that it’s not a total loss, but there will need to be significant repairs made.

This also included the loss of power and the baseball bleachers destroyed. The athletic facility was also destroyed. The Gordon baseball team (19-5) is set to play Perrin-Whitt (12-7) in the Class 1A Region 2 Championship this week. The three-game series begins with Game 1 on Thursday at 7:30 pm from Stephenville HS. The winner advances to the state semifinals.

The Longhorns defeated Oglesby during last week’s regional semifinal round.

Due to the damages, the Texas Rangers have decided to help out Gordon during its playoff run.
