Matt Stepp and Dave Campbell’s Texas Football first reported the news of the Travis Pride’s death on Wednesday. Pride spent the past nine seasons as head coach at Byron Nelson.
Pride had won 64 games with the Bobcats and also had stints as a head coach at Wichita Falls and Mansfield Summit, and also spent time at Southlake Carroll as an assistant.
He owned a career record of 128-91.
In 2024, the Bobcats went 9-2 and lost to eventual state champion North Crowley in the bi-district round.
The best season came in 2023 when Pride led Byron Nelson to a 13-1 record, district championship, regular season win over Southlake Carroll and a trip to the regional final.
One of the biggest wins in program history came on Oct. 27, 2023 when they beat Southlake Carroll 34-17 at Northwest ISD Stadium.
