Just days before the start of the UIL softball playoffs, the Azle Hornets will be without their head coach Carlos Font after he was arrested Friday – accused of having an improper relationship with a student.
According to Fox 4 News, the alleged victim is a former student who filed a report with the Azle Police Department. The victim reported that the relationship happened several years ago.
Font, who has been working at Azle ISD for the past seven years, isn’t allowed on district property while under investigation. This is the first year as Azle head coach for Font, who was taken to Tarrant County Jail.
The Hornets clinched a playoff spot in District 5-5A and enter the playoffs with a Division 2 bi-district matchup with Grapevine from District 6-5A. The playoff schedule is still to be determined.
Chris Tiner will step in as interim head coach.
